ADRIC Recognizes CAB’s Mediation Training Program
ADRIC is proud to announce the formal recognition of the Aga Khan Conciliation and Arbitration Board for Canada’s (CAB) Mediation and Conciliation Training Program (MCTP). This recognition enables CAB mediators in Canada to pursue ADRIC’s Qualified Mediator (Q.Med) certification after gaining practical experience.
The MCTP, offered by the International Conciliation and Arbitration Board (ICAB) and facilitated by experts from the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) in the UK, equips mediators with the skills necessary to deliver top-tier mediation services. Over 80 CAB members, alumni, and volunteers across Canada completed the program in Fall 2023.
This recognition from ADRIC affirms the high quality of the MCTP, aligning it with ADRIC’s rigorous standards as Canada’s preeminent self-regulatory dispute resolution organization.
CAB plays a vital role in supporting the Jamat, offering free mediation services that help resolve disputes in line with the ethics of the faith. By avoiding costly litigation, CAB saves the Jamat an estimated $1-2 million annually.
Al-Nawaz Nanji, National Chairman of CAB for Canada
“We are honoured by ADRIC’s recognition of our training program, which reflects the Imam’s vision of providing best-in-class services to the Jamat. This milestone underscores our shared commitment to advancing awareness of alternative dispute resolution and sharing best practices.”
Gary Lacasse, ADRIC Executive Director
“We are pleased to recognize the Aga Khan Conciliation and Arbitration Board for Canada’s training program. This collaboration highlights the importance of incorporating diverse cultural approaches to dispute resolution in Canada.”
