International Mediation Roundtable

On April 7, 2018 ADRIC’s Executive Director Janet McKay and ADRIC Director Michael Schafler of Dentons Canada met with Ms. Wang Fang, Deputy Secretary-General and Ms. Tang Yi, legal counsel of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) / China Chamber of International Commerce Mediation Center.

Also attending the International Mediation Roundtable were ADRIC members Bill Horton, Stephen Morrison, Viki Scott and Barbara Capes, as well as some of ADRIC’s Corporate Member representatives: Hugh Meighen of BLG and Sandy Walker of Dentons.

The CCPIT has a robust international mediation program and talks were held to consider how CCPIT and ADRIC might collaborate. One potential is in offering CCPIT specialized training to ADRIC mediator members with the goal of having them join the international mediation program roster.

CCPIT is keen to have a Canadian delegation attend their International Mediation Summit on September 11-13, 2018 in China where training might be arranged for the days prior to the Summit.  They also welcome speaking proposals.

Any members who will be in investing* in and travelling to the Summit and possible adjacent training should send a note to admin@adric.ca with the subject line: International Mediation Summit so a delegation and the training can be organised.

ADRIC will also be encouraging CCPIT to provide training in Canada.

*ADRIC will not be covering any expenses.
