The Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada has released a report by the Cyberjustoce Lab at the University of Montreal which looks at the change from face to face hearings to online ones.
The IRB is Canada’s largest tribunal, and deal with the adjudication of refugees claims and immigration applications. As a result of Covid, it pivoted from Face to Face court room hearings to online hearings.
This is an excellent report on the challenges of moving a high case load tribunal to a new way of doing work, while dealing with the very necessary need to prevent the cases in line from becoming un-manageable.
