After obtaining his bachelor’s degree in psychology from York University, Bruce pursued his master’s degree in psychology at Norwich University Vermont. After graduating he opened his counselling practice while simultaneously undertaking his doctoral studies at California Coast University. Program changes when he was at the ABD stage forced him to complete at Bridgewater University. Since then, he has also completed his master’s degree in law specializing in ADR at Osgoode Hall Law School. In addition to the formalized training, He has completed additional Certificates in Mediation, Arbitration, Adjudication, Ombudsman as well as the becoming certified as a Workplace fairness Analyst (WFA), a Certified Mediator and licensed Private Investigator.
Being in practice since 1985 he has in addition to counselling; he has conducted in excess of four thousand mediations ranging from, Employment and Personal Injury business to Sports, and Construction matters at A Place for Mediation one of Toronto’s full-service resolution companies. Currently, he is one of the teaching team for the Lawyer is negotiator program at Osgoode Hall Law School for third year students and also at York University’s Mediation Certificate program as well as at Humber and Centennial. Colleges Also, academically he supervises students in the Small Claims Court Mediation practicums. And for the Q. Med designation through Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario of which he is currently president. Bruce is the Canadian editor for Mediate.com.
He is an approved service provider for both the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada in the areas of mediation, arbitration and investigations for several years, during this time he has provided individual as well as workplace restorative practices for several federal departments including Transportation Canada, Fisheries and Veteran Affairs. He has also conducted four studies on Racism in different departments in the government of Canada. Privately he has provided workplace restoration services to a hospital, a fire department, a TV station and a Teacher’s Association in Ontario amongst several other institutions. Currently he offers investigations, mediations, arbitrations and workplace assessments and restoration and has just developed and submitted a 40-hour certificate course in Sports Dispute resolution.
As of today’s date, he holds certification, membership and is in good standing with the Ontario Bar Association (affiliate), the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals, the Workplace Fairness Institute, The Sports Dispute Resolution Association of Canada, The Attorney General of Ontario’s Mandatory Mediation Roster of Mediators and the American Psychological Association. amongst others He is currently in the completing a book titled “Footsteps between the Rooms”: and his PsyD degree.
