Paul Conway, Previously the Executive Director of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Alberta (ADRIA), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – Paul is an experienced Human Resources professional and Mediator, having served 35 years with the Department of National Defence, and later with the University of Alberta, the Human Resources Institute of Alberta, and Alberta’s Oil & Gas Sector. Before retiring from the Air Force in 2012, Paul was actively involved in the creation and growth of the National Defence Informal Conflict Management Program, providing workplace ADR services to more than 150K uniformed and civilian employees. Ultimately, Lieutenant-Colonel Conway served as the program`s Director of National Operations, employing almost 100 Mediators and ADR Trainers across Canada, and engaging more than 20K clients annually in proactive ADR training and intervention services.
Throughout his military career, Paul bore witness to and was actively engaged in numerous progressive HR initiatives including the employment of women in military combat roles, the acceptance of LGBTQ2S+ members in uniformed service, and crafting military trans-gender policies. Paul completed his BEng in 1983, his personal mediation qualifications with National Defence in 2000, a Master’s degree in Defence Studies with the Royal Military College in 2005, and his Professional Human Resources Certification in 2011.
